Bonham was first settled back in 1837 when Bailey Inglish built Fort Inglish. The town was later named after James Butler Bonham, a hero of the Alamo. It’s been the county seat of Fannin County ever since.

In 1889, the beautiful granite Fannin County Courthouse was built on the town square. Tragically, on New Year’s Eve 1929, a fire broke out in the cupola. The blaze destroyed the tower, sending the clock and heavy bell crashing down through the floors. The courthouse was later fully restored to its original glory and remains a stunning centerpiece of downtown Bonham today.

Bonham sits right in the heart of the Texoma region, about an hour northeast of Dallas. With a population of around 11,000, it offers that perfect small-town feel while staying close enough to the big city when you need it.
